These five tips will have you winning more ranked game in League of Legends in no time.

Something that everybody struggles with from time to time is consistently winning elusive solo queue, or dynamic queue, games. There are, however, many well-known tricks that can be utilized to give you the greatest amount of success possible, and here are five of them.

1. Take breaks

It’s important to take a break after losing multiple games in a row because the emotions can easily flow from game to game. Preventing as much anxiety bleeding as possible will prevent you from entering into massive slides, losing hundreds of LP in one sitting. This is something that Youtuber Gbay99 has discussed before in great detail. He discusses psychology to explain why you go on tilt, and good ways to combat it.

2. Watch your own gameplay

This is something that many people neglect to do, but it can be immensely helpful. Watching your own play as a spectator gives you additional perspective to notice mistakes that you may be unaware that you’re making. As you watch, take notes on things that you consistently have difficulties with in order to remember to work on them.

3. Watch professionals

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you must watch LCS players, just somebody who is highly intelligent about the game. A good example is Nick “LastShadow (LS)” De Cesare as he was a previous coach for numerous LCS teams. LS posts videos of him instructing players from all different skill levels, addressing macro and micro strategy. Viewing advice targeted to your role or champion is a great way to pick up on small tips that can help boost you to the next rating. An extra possibility is always to hire coaching for yourself, but most people would prefer a free way to improve, which is perfectly understandable. Here’s an example of one of his videos.

4. Focus on a small champion pool

Making sure you hone your skills on a select few champions allows you to master techniques and mechanics that you may not have the chance to if you constantly jump across roles. Select a few champions that you love to play, and only play those whenever possible.

5. Don’t obsess over winning

If winning is your only goal, then achieving success will be difficult because at some point most players will reach a block. Instead, focus on getting better, and use the losses in LP as payment to get better. Viewing the games you play in such a way makes it less important if you win or lose and puts more importance on if you’re actually improving over time. This will ensure more long-term success, over instantaneous gratification.
