Falling Champions

Renekton (A+ to A tier)

The croc didn’t get nerfed directly and his win rate is still rocking about the same at just above 50%. It’s possible he just got disproportionately hurt by the Randuin’s Omen buffs, but I think more likely it’s just that with Mordekaiser becoming the new darling of top lane someone got the short end of the stick.

Kayle (B+ to B tier)

Now here’s someone that I could definitely see getting hurt by the Randuin’s buff. Yes, Kayle did have a drop in win rate, but it was fairly modest. It’s possible that she can rebound back to B+ status.

More from Blog of Legends

Teemo (B+ to B tier)

Teemo’s win rate dropped by almost a full percent, bringing him to 49%, the lowest it’s been in quite a while. I would attribute this a bit more to the nerfs to his favorite starting item, Corrupting Potion, back in Patch 9.12.

Pantheon (B to C tier)

I think this is another drop that is due to the Corrupting Pot nerfs, as Pantheon loved using that extra magic damage to bully opponents early. It gave him mixed damage for his all-ins, and now that is significantly weaker.

Shen (B to C tier)

Theoretically, Shen should have benefitted from the Randuin’s buff, as should most tanks. Yet he saw his win rate drop by almost 0.5% in Patch 9.13. One possible explanation is that he struggles into the premiere bruisers like Darius and Mordekaiser.

Poppy (B to C tier)

Similarly, Poppy would benefit from that Randuin’s buff. She too, saw her win rate drop by a little in this patch, though not too significantly.

Cho’Gath (C to D tier)

On the other hand, Cho’Gath could have been a big beneficiary to the Rod of Ages buff. With the decreased combine cost, he could have been looking to get all that extra health and mana to chomp down on his enemies. However, RoA is only purchased for Cho’Gath a little over 3% of the time (more often than Randuins) and his win rate has remained stagnant.

Sion (C to D tier)

Sion would, again, be in that class of champions that should be benefitting from Randuins being buffed. Unfortunately, it’s still not an item he purchases very often. He did, however, see his win rate rise to 51.7%.

Ornn (C to D tier)

Here we have one of the first champions that got direct buffs in Patch 9.13, yet Ornn fell in the tier list. Unfortunately, his win rate continued to dip despite those buffs, and is now barely over 49%.

Gnar (C to D tier)

The champion who has gotten so many buffs in Season 9, Gnar’s brief resurgence has come to a screeching halt. After rising up to nearly get into the B tier last patch, Gnar has stumbled back despite his win rate going up.

Dr. Mundo (C to D tier)

Although it’s nice that his win rate went up slightly, Mundo still sits at a 48.5% win rate. Right now, he is not going where he pleases against those bruisers dominating the top lane.

Malphite (C to D tier)

Holding the third-worst win rate among all top laners (46.5%) Malphite stands out as a relic with an outdated kit. He is in desperate need of that mini-rework that’s been hinted at for a few patch cycles now.

Wukong (D to F tier)

Although he has a decent win rate, Wukong saw his win rate fall by one full percentage point in Patch 9.13. He also holds the distinction of having the lowest pick rate in the top lane roster.

Sylas (D to F tier)

After the Patch 9.12 nerfs, Sylas’s win rate plummeted to a new low. His win rate is currently 44.3%, which is the worst of any top laner, but that’s still a 1.7% improvement from last patch.
