New Additions

Galio
Jayce

Pantheon
Heimerdinger
Nocturne
Kled
Malphite

Unlike the first two champions, who did get direct changes in Patch 9.14, the remainder of these champions rejoined the tier list after disappearing briefly (Heimer, Kled, and Pantheon all dropped out in Patch 9.13) or only infrequent appearers on the mid lane tier list. It’s really not worth discussing any of these in too much depth except for one.

Heimerdinger is a notable addition to this tier list for two reasons. First, he recently rejoined our top lane tier list. Second, his win rate in the mid lane has jumped to over 52.3%, so clearly, something about the meta has changed to favor Heimer.

Rising Champions

Katarina (A+ to S tier)
Malzahar (A to A+ tier)

Although Malzahar’s win rate and pick rate didn’t change in a noticeable way after Patch 9.14, tier lists have seen fit to rank him a bit higher than he was in the last patch. However, with assassins becoming more and more popular and powerful in the meta (Zed, Katarina, Diana, and Fizz are all among the most-picked mid laners), Malz is a pretty good champion to counter them.

Fizz (B+ to A tier)
Mordekaiser (B+ to A tier)
Kassadin (B to A tier)

Similar to Malzahar, the stats don’t support giving Kassadin a higher ranking in the tier lists (his win rate actually went down by almost 1% with his pick rate remaining static). But as AP melee assassins are becoming more popular, Kassadin does well into those match-ups.

Zoe (B to A tier)

Zoe’s been consistently rated around the median ranking since our tier list aggregations started. I suspected that was because of her difficulty to pilot as a champion, so it was quite surprising to see her jump up so quickly. Despite her win rate not changing, sites have generally rated her more highly after Patch 9.14, so it’ll be interesting to see if that changes.

Rumble (C to A tier)

Rumble has been growing as the premiere pick in the mid lane and sites are finally starting to take notice. With the best win rate of all mids (54.8%), Rumble may be rated lower than he should be.

Diana (C to A tier)
