League of Legends Patch 9.14 tier list – support edition
By Josh Tyler
New Additions
Volibear
Poppy
Annie
Miss Fortune
I’m not going to dwell too long on any of these new supports on our list. None of them have a pick rate over 1% and only one has a win rate over 49%. That champion, however, is Volibear who has suddenly become a pick in solo queue after a certain Korean player broke out Voli support in LCK.
New subtractions
Galio
As expected, the change Riot made in this patch to remove Galio’s ability to flash>taunt took him out of the support meta in solo queue completely. Back to sleep then.
Rising Champions
Nautilus (A+ to S tier)
One big theme of this patch has been the rise of hook/tank supports. One of the biggest beneficiaries of all the changes has been Nautilus, who rose up the tier lists despite his win rate remaining stable at just above 51.1%.
Pyke (A to S tier)
Morgana (A to A+ tier)
Zilean (B+ to A tier)
Zilean didn’t see his win rate change from the last patch, but he managed to rise up the tier list. Although he is something of a shielding support and new mechanics have been added enabling champions to break shields easier, Zilean rose up. However, we should note that for the previous few patches before 9.13, Zilean was in the A to A+ tier so this might just be his ranking rebalancing after an aberration.
Karma (B+ to A tier)
Rakan (B+ to A tier)
Unlike Zilean, Rakan wasn’t a previously strong champion who temporarily dropped down. Like Zilean, Rakan’s win rate and pick rate haven’t moved in a meaningful way, so it’s hard to say why he rose in Patch 9.14.
Bard (B+ to A tier)
Blitzcrank (B to A tier)
Yuumi (B to A tier)
Lulu (B to B+ tier)
Now, Lulu saw her win rate rise from the last patch to this one. That win rate has been improving for a few patches now, rising from 48.3% in Patch 9.12 to 49.7% now.
Leona (C to B+ tier)
Alistar (D to C tier)
Braum (D to C tier)
Braum currently has the third-worst win rate of any supports in League of Legends. It has improved by 0.8% over the past few patches, like Lulu, but not too much. I wouldn’t be surprised if Braum drops down again next patch.
Tahm Kench (F to D tier)
Neeko (F to D tier)
Falling Champions
Sona (B+ to B tier)
After the nerfs Sona got back in Patch 9.13, Sona has seen her win rate and ranking continuously drop. Right now, her win rate sits at 49.8% and she seems to have fallen below most of the other Enchanter supports after being such a strong pick for much of Season 9.
Lux (S to A tier)
Janna (A+ to A tier)
