League of Legends LCS 2019 Summer Playoffs runner up game preview: Clutch vs. CLG
By Josh Tyler
Top Lane
Kim “Ruin” Hyeong-min vs Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon
It’s unfortunate that, after such a strong regular season, Ruin has had such a lackluster playoff run. Through CLG’s first two series, Ruin has the second-worst KDA among all playoff top laners (only Dhokla‘s is worse) and has the highest percentage of his team’s deaths in that position.
While Ruin showcased a wide champion pool during the regular split, it’s now looking a bit more like the pool isn’t that deep. The only champions that he’s showcased a high KDA or GPM on in these playoffs are Camille and Poppy, each of whom he’s only played once. His most-played champions in the playoffs – Jayce and Akali – are both fairly underwhelming both in the regular split and playoffs.
He’ll be facing one of Clutch’s biggest carries (and keys to victory) in Huni. Although he was often a major reason for carrying the team in these playoffs (his 607 damage per minute is the highest among top laners by a longshot) he can also be the one to make big mistakes and lose them the game. Unfortunately, Ruin hasn’t played well enough in the playoffs to show that he can be the one to take advantage of those Huni oopsies.
Advantage: Clutch
