Buffed champions

Aatrox

They gave Aatrox some of his wave clear back on his Q – The Darkin Blade, which was definitely helpful. His win rate rose by almost 3% and he bounced back into the C tier, so he could definitely still be a viable pick.

Akali

She got a raw damage buff to her R – Perfect Execution to compensate for the “overnerf” in 9.18. The result was that Akali’s win rate went up by over 1% but she remains in the C tier as she was last patch.

Annie

God Riot just keeps buffing Annie but unfortunately, the Dark Child is too limited by her kit to really crack into the upper echelons of the mid lane meta. Though her win rate is the highest it’s been in five patches and up almost 3% from 9.18, she remains in the C tier.

Heimerdinger

We’ve already seen Heimerdinger get broken out at Worlds following the buffs to his Q – H-28G Evolution Turret‘s damage, E – CH-2 Electron Storm Grenade‘s stun duration, and the AP ratio on his R – H28Q Apex Turret. His presence in solo queue has similarly improved. After languishing in the F and D tiers for most of Season 9, Heimer is now a high-C tier mid laner with a 53.2% win rate, top five among mid laners.

Mordekaiser

Morde has similarly become more of a fashionable pick in pro play after the damage buffs to his W – Indestructible. His win rate only jumped up by 0.7%, but he too managed to climb up into the high-C tier.

Orianna

We assumed that the Orianna buffs to her R – Command: Shockwave would be more impactful on pro play than solo queue. So far, that has not been the case. Her win rate is up 1.5% in Patch 9.19 and she re-enters the B tier for the first time in five patches.

Twisted Fate

Extra base damage and attack speed were added to his E – Stacked Deck. Even though it seemed to be stacked pretty heavily before, with TF in our B tier, the buffs bumped him into the B+ tier, his highest rating since Patch 9.3. His win rate also got a nice 1.3% bump for good measure.

Veigar

Finally, the cooldown reduction on Veigar’s E – Event Horizon was aimed to help out a struggling Yordle in the mid lane. Unfortunately, his win rate hasn’t improved since the buff and he remains in our C tier this patch.

Nerfed champions

Karma

We touched on the effects of the nerf to her Q – Inner Flame when discussing her drop in our support tier list. In mid lane, the effects have arguably been even worse. She’s now in our F tier and her win rate dropped over 2%.

Pantheon

Pantheon’s been pick/ban in Worlds on 9.19, but it’s important to note that Riot did slip in an extra nerf to his base magic resist and W – Shield Vault‘s empowered damage. His strength is down slightly as a result, from A tier to high-B tier. However, his win rate is about the same as it was last patch.

Sylas

Finally, we have another installment in Riot’s saga to make Sylas a balanced champion. This time, they went after his base armor and the damage ratio on his Passive – Petricite Burst. He’s now in our D tier for mid lane, but his win rate is now just below 43%, down from 48.3% just one patch ago. In all likelihood, Riot will (justifiably) be giving him some power back soon.
