Game 1: SKT 1-0

Some SKT fans out there were a bit worried when the mid-god, Faker, sat. But Easyhoon, his replacement, rose to the occasion and gave EDG a different look that fooled just about everybody in China. The decision to sit Faker proved to be just the medicine SKT needed against EDG. Easyhoon with his stellar play with Cassiopeia caused first blood with the help of Benji’s Gragas.

Some would say “No Faker, No Problem.” And that was exactly the case in Game 1. EDG did try to play defensively, get vision out on dragon early to attempt to get a head start on objectives. They were able to do just that, but it didn’t matter that much. Easyhoon got off to such a good start in mid, PawN from EDG was basically a non-factor with Orianna. PawN got out-CSed by Easyhoon by 20 in the first 10 minutes. The different play style that Easyhoon gave PawN proved to be too much to handle down the stretch.

One of the few bright spots for EDG was Koro all the way up in top lane. He made an incredible play with Gnar, to snag an early kill to put him up in top lane.

After realizing he needed to carry a bit harder than normal due to Easyhoon completing wrecking mid-lane, he did turn around and make a stupid play immediately after. Not his best moment, but we can’t condemn him too much for trying to make big plays.

All in all, SKT farmed too well despite being down in drags. They protected their turrets in early game, had solid team fights throughout, and created too much of a gold advantage for EDG to actually make any sort of comeback. Two Barons and 2 Dragons later, SKT is in the enemy base and taking inhibitors like the Grinch takes presents on Christmas.

The key to the game was obviously Easyhoon dominating PawN in mid lane. By the time late game rolled around, Easyhoon had a huge CS lead by about 50 and PawN didn’t even have a void staff. It was all but GG from there. A team fight around Baron that gave Easyhoon a triple kill put the final nail in the coffin and SKT went up 1-0.
