2016 EU LCS Summer Split Week 2 Power Rankings
By Andrew Ross
6. ROCCAT (2 points, 0-2-0)
ROCCAT was one of the bigger question marks heading into the summer, and they looked surprisingly good.
The team took a chance on bringing in two imports that no one knew about to surround their three solid players, and judging from Week 1, it looks like it was a solid risk to take.
The imports played just fine and the players they need to step up did so really well. Felix “Betsy” Edling and Pierre “Steeelback” Medjaldi have the potential to be one of the best carry duos in all of Europe, and that was made clear to everyone after their games against H2K and Splyce.
Betsy played amazingly and finished with a 3.8 KDA, 78.9 kill participation percentage and did 32.7 percent of his team’s damage. Steeelback was right there with him with a 4.0 KDA, 70.2 kill participation percentage and 26.9 percent of the team’s total damage.
Any team is going to do just fine when their two main carries are doing nearly 60 percent of your team’s damage.
It was nice to see ROCCAT show some promise, but they will really be tested in Week 2 with contests against G2 Esports and Team Vitality. It would be amazing if they could steal a game from G2, but simply competing with them would be a win this early in the season. However, they should definitely be looking for at least a tie with Vitality.
