2. Immortals (2-0)

Immortals didn’t have the cleanest 2-0 that a team could have, but regardless, it’s a good spot to be in.

The biggest question surrounding them coming into the summer was how they would adapt to the best-of-three format. They dominated the regular season of the Spring Split, but those were all single games and they followed that with getting crushed the first time they had to play an actual series in the playoffs.

Immortals seemed to handle the new format fine, but they didn’t look like the indestructible team that we saw for most of the last split. However, there’s a chance that’s because they didn’t do a Korean bootcamp like many of the other NA LCS teams and they took a bit of a break instead. That’s obviously going to make them not as sharp as some of their top competitors.

Their series against Cloud9 was very exciting, but Immortals simply made too many mistakes and let multiple opportunities slip by that led to a hard three-game series. However, a win against Cloud9 is still a good win. It just could have been a lot better.

The series against Phoenix1 was a bit more head-scratching. This particular newcomer to the NA LCS is supposed to be one of the worst teams in the region, and yet they were leading Immortals well past the 20-minute mark in Game 1 of their series. Immortals still went on to win the game and crushed them in Game 2, but still, Immortals want to be one of the top teams in the entire world, and that’s not going to happen if you are struggling against the likes of Phoenix1.

Their real test will come against TSM this weekend.
