9. NRG Esports (0-2)

There were many disappointing teams in Week 1, but no one was more disappointing than NRG Esports. Well, disappointing might not even do them justice – they were embarrassing and uncomfortable to watch.

NRG entered the split with a lot of hype due to a new and exciting roster that brought back players with great reputations in the region, but maybe those players were only interested in collecting checks because they didn’t look like top NA LCS players.

Everyone was so excited to see Diego “Quas” Ruiz back in action after taking a long break from the competitive scene, but he was absolutely dreadful in his first week back. Hopefully, it was because he has a lot of rust to shake off, because it would suck to know that this is the new Quas.

It would be easy to discuss how disappointing all the NRG players were, but there’s really no reason to. They were bad and everyone knows it. Lee “GBM” Chang-suk and Alan “KiWiKiD” Nguyen were the only ones that showed any amount of positivity at all.

What’s sad is that it could be another dreadful week for some of our favorite players as they face off against Immortals and Echo Fox. At this point, people aren’t even asking for a win, but it would be nice to see some fight.

It’s shocking that a team with this roster is in this position right now, but League is crazy sometimes. NRG was a popular choice for a dark horse team to make the playoffs, but after seeing them play in Week 1, they have a better shot at making the promotion tournament.
