6. Counter Logic Gaming (0-2)

Week 1 was one to forget for CLG fans.

The team is going to be back at the top sooner rather than later, but this spot is justified after their first two series.

Hype is a difficult thing to handle, and CLG had more of it than ever after winning back-to-back NA LCS titles and finishing second to SK Telecom T1 at the Mid-Season Invitational last month. Maybe the hype got to them.

They opened the Summer Split with a series against TSM that was supposed to be great and exciting for everyone, but CLG simply couldn’t handle their opponent at all and easily lost 2-0. But, to be fair, TSM did look sensational, so it was a loss that could have been forgiven had they made things right in their following series.

Sadly, that didn’t happen either. Their situation was actually made worse after playing against Apex. It should have been a fairly easy victory for CLG, and yet they were only able to take one game from Apex. However, not only were they only able to win one game, but they were defeated rather handily in the other two. It was a pretty bad look.

After the week of losses, CLG players acted like the slow start was because of the break they took after MSI and because they don’t understand the current meta that well, but those are some poor excuses.

Things don’t get any easier for CLG as they face off against Team Liquid and Cloud9 this weekend. It would be embarrassing for them to come out winless for a second straight week.
