6. NRG Esports

The team that NRG Esports put out for Week 1 was one of the most pathetic teams the NA LCS has ever seen (considering our expectations of them heading into the split), but it looks like that was more of a fluke than anything else.

NRG came into the season with a completely new roster (besides their mid laner), and it’s understandable that they needed some extra time to get in the groove of things.

Simply competing with Immortals in a couple of games would have been good enough, but the team not only competed, they were actually able to win a game.

NRG carried that momentum into their series against Echo Fox to get their first victory of the split.

There are a lot of things to look at when explaining why NRG was so much better in Week 2 than in Week 1, but it mainly comes down to two players: Diego “Quas” Ruiz and Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen.

Quas was absolutely atrocious to start off the split, but it looks like that was more rust than anything else as he played well in Week 2 (including a strong performance on Illaoi).

Santorin, on the other hand, has to be the MVP for NRG right now. He was phenomenal during this past week and made nearly everything happen for his team.

They have a fun weekend ahead of them with series against Team Liquid and TSM.
