4. Cloud9

Cloud9 had everyone scratching their heads after Week 5.

The previous week was so good for them — arguably their best. Wins against Team Envy and NRG Esports wouldn’t normally be that big of a deal, but it was by far the cleanest week Cloud9 has had this summer.

They have remained a top team since the beginning of the split, but that has come with a lot of sloppiness. It was nice to not see that for a change.

Unfortunately, they looked like a bottom of the standings team this past week during their games against Team Liquid and Immortals.

They were expected to take down Liquid, and not only did they lose, but they essentially lost 3-1 due to having to play Game Two twice (Liquid was dominating the original Game 2 after the 20-minute mark whenever the game had to be remade).

Losing to Immortals is nothing to be ashamed of, but Cloud9 is supposed to be one of the elite teams in the league and they completely dropped the ball against them.

Hopefully, that was just an off week for the team, but things aren’t getting any easier as they take on TSM this week.

3. Team Liquid

The team was in a questionable spot for the last couple of weeks, but it’s pretty clear now that Jovani “fabbbyyy” Guillen is the official starting ADC for the team instead of Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin.

That didn’t seem like a smart move after the team got crushed by Immortals in their first real test without Piglet, but they more than bounced back this past week with impressive wins against Cloud9 and Team Envy.

This team is never going to challenge Immortals or TSM, but finishing in the top four is something they should be proud of after everything they have been through this split.

It will be interesting to see just how good this lineup can be, and they have a huge opportunity against Immortals on Saturday.
