2016 NA LCS power rankings for Week 7 of the Summer Split
By Andrew Ross
8. NRG Esports
We’ve all been hoping for NRG Esports to turn things around given a little time together, but it’s pretty clear that’s not going to happen.
This new roster was a popular pick to make the playoffs coming into the summer, but they are simply a bottom of the standings type of team.
They aren’t in the worst position, however. There is still a chance for NRG to avoid the promotion tournament, but even if they have to play in that, they should have enough talent to keep their spot in the NA LCS.
If they are going to win some games in the near future, next week when they need to make it happen as it is their easiest remaining week with series against Phoenix1 and Team Envy.
7. Apex
It’s felt like an eternity since we last saw a win from Apex, but they finally got it done against NRG Esports on Saturday.
As horribly as their split has gone, they are still in a decent spot to make the playoffs as they are only one win back in the standings to both Team Envy and Counter Logic Gaming for the sixth and final playoff spot. Considering that, it makes their loss to Phoenix1 that much worse.
Unfortunately, Apex does have a fairly rough schedule to end the summer, so making the playoffs would be quite an impressive task.
It’s time for them to show us that they can take down some of the better teams in the region, and they can start that as soon as this week. The series against Team Envy should be considered a must-win for Apex.
Next: 6. Team Envy, 5. Counter Logic Gaming
