37. Jayce

Jayce contains all of the aspects of Varus, but seemingly in an actualized manner. Rather than initially being proposed as an ADC and then eventually making his way towards the mid lane, Jayce approached the mid lane from the opposite end — the top lane. Because of this interesting twist, Jayce has been an unusual champion from conception. Poke oriented top laners are not all that common, especially AD, so seeing a champion like this come with such a fascinating kit was exactly what consumers needed.

Not only does he come with a strong set of abilities, but there are double the normal amount because of his ability to switch forms! This allows Jayce to pull off more complex combos that allow him to do more and more damage, while other champions are left behind. A Jayce master can obliterate his opponents, which is something that a game with a high skill cap should do. It should allow players that are masters of their craft be able to truly show that off, and Jayce gives players the tools to do so. It’s no surprise, therefore, that we saw people like Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok pick up Jayce in the mid lane. Confident his skills could surpass all others, he brought this menace to terrorize the LCK, even if it happened to be 2v1.

Faker managed to turn the gank into a kill completely on his own. It’s likely that the jungler horribly underestimated his damage output when able to get off a full combo.
