50 best League of Legends champions of all-time
By Dakota Doney
20. Azir
Azir is a personal favorite for a lot of people who main him, and it’s particularly because of his extraordinarily high skill to master. He’s certainly not a champion that you can pick up in a short amount of time, and generally when you see one in solo queue it’s going to be one that plays him often.
When first playing the champion, he can come across as clunky and rough, but that’s simply because his mechanics are so different from all of the other characters in the game. The reliance on soldier placement is unique to Azir, as well as his ultimate.
Everyone has already seen this play, but let’s be honest, you can never see it too many times. It’s arguably the most impressive Azir moment in professional play.
Anyways, the final aspect that makes Azir so special is the “Shurima Shuffle.” This move, which involves using all of your abilities in tandem, is a huge reason he stands out among mid laners. It also was innovated after the release, similarly to the “Insec” on Lee Sin. You must place a soldier, then dash to the soldier, then while dashing, move the soldier again and then ult the enemies in a desired direction. This particular combo is exactly what fluidity of kit is all about. It’s visually appealing, mechanically complex and everything we could ask for.
