League of Legends recently had a developer update video and broke down some exciting new changes to honor. They got it right since it will undoubtedly improve the overall community.

You’ve just won a 38-minute match in League of Legends and are feeling pretty good about your contributions. You decided to play as an ADC and thanks to your support champion, you ended up winning bottom lane and doing your part to secure the victory.

Most of the time after the match is over, you check out how much IP you earned, your final grade, and move on to the next one. The majority of Summoners in League of Legends will say “GG” in Group Chat and then move on to their next match. Unfortunately, many forget to give recognition to that one support champion that kept you healed and was always looking out for you.

All that is about to change thanks to an upcoming honor update. In the video below, take a look at what NEW001, Project Lead for League of Legends, had to say about this update:

Needless to say, such an update is going to be great to not only recognize all those great support champions but many others that do their part to get a win that goes unnoticed. Honor is huge in the grand scheme of things since it helps put friendly players together with others that know how to create a positive environment.

League of Legends got it right when it comes to handling such an update since the general consensus about the community is that it can be toxic when things don’t go according to plan in the Summoner’s Rift. New players getting into the game might never continue playing if they consistently have to get flamed and trolled just because they’re not doing well as they learn the game.

This new honor update will reward players after a match is over by letting teammates vote to commend someone for a job well done. It will boil down to three different options to commend a teammate for not tilting a lane, making a great call during a match, or for being friendly when things got rough.

League of Legends will also have a new Honor Ranking logo that will be in your profile showcasing everything you’ve earned from being a team player. Summoners with higher levels will earn exclusive rewards and much more. While they haven’t been revealed yet, expect to see League of Legends heavily reward the friendliest of players that ensure every match is a positive one, win or lose.
