Give us the big picture

There are a lot of ways to get confused when it comes to the lore of League of Legends, especially with all the retconning of lore, reworking of champions, and introducing new ones. So the biggest storyline that needs to be addressed in this comic series at some point is a broad strokes picture of how it all fits together.

A lot of these stories that we have already discussed touch on that a bit, but the fact remains that there are far too many other little aspects or relationships in this universe that need more fleshing out, like the rivalry between Zaun and Piltover, the relationship between the Void and Shurima (and what impact the Void might have on the afterlife in Runeterra), where Bilgewater, the Freljord, and Ionia generally fit in with those major regions, as well as smaller factions like the Vastaya.

Some of this has been addressed, but really it is critical if we want to care about the world of Runeterra to understand what is this world like and how did we get here. How did Noxus and Demacia end up in this bitter feud? Was it a straight conflict of philosophies, or was there an inciting event?

Do certain regions only trade with Zaun and/or Piltover? How did Zaun become this underbelly of Piltover? Was it class warfare, some kind of political sabotage?

Which regions are aligned, or have been aligned with each other in the past? What does each region think of the other? Which factions within those regions might have loyalty to another?

All of these questions have been answered in the existing lore to some extent, yes. But it’s been done through perspectives of characters in side stories and asides, brief descriptions and artwork. We desperately need some compendium, some series to let us know what each region is, where it is both physically and morally, and how it affects the world of Runeterra. That would be awesome.
