Bot

S Tier: Lucian

A Tier: Jhin, Draven, Miss Fortune, Twitch, Karthus, Ezreal, Kai’Sa,

B Tier: Vayne, Heimerdinger, Jinx, Kog’Maw, Sivir, Ashe

C Tier: Swain, Xayah, Caitlyn, Varus, Tristana, Quinn, Ziggs, Mordekaiser, Kalista

Lucian is not only the number one pick out of the bot lane by a large margin, but he is also the best-ranked champion in this patch and has almost doubled the average standardized rank of the next champion behind him, Jhin. Put another way, if we put this same gap between Jhin and Lucian as the gap between Jhin and the next champion, it would bump out 11 different bot laners and wipe out the entire A tier on this list.

Although marksmen are being seen as weak right now, the bot lane role is still largely dominated by them. Only one of the listed A tier champions is a non-marksmen in Karthus, who is also A tier in the mid lane.

Having said that, there are definitely some marksmen that are clearly struggling. The C tier is littered with crit-based AD carries like Xayah, Caitlyn, and Tristana. Although Twitch is an A tier pick now, and Jinx, Sivir, and Ashe are in the B tier, it’s clear that early-game marksmen are strongest in the role.

Oh, and the marksmen that most rankings can’t agree on as to placement, is the newest addition to this list: Karthus. This makes sense, given that he came into the role after synergizing so well with the reworked Dark Harvest. Now that the rune is being adjusted, many probably want to let it settle down to its appropriate power level before labeling its best user as meta in the bot lane.
