Support

S Tier: Thresh, Pyke

A Tier: Brand, Zilean, Zyra, Nami, Leona, Blitzcrank, Janna, Alistar, Soraka, Morgana, Sona, Lux, Bard,

B Tier: Fiddlesticks, Vel’Koz, Xerath, Taric

C Tier: Rakan, Veigar, Gragas, Lulu, Braum, Karma, Nautilus, Maokai

D Tier: Shen, Malphite, Tahm Kench, Poppy, Teemo

For our tier list ranking of supports, we see more of the same theme as exemplified by the other roles. Traditional tanks are banished to the bottom tiers (Tahm, Nautilus, Braum) while aggressive early game champions like Pyke and Thresh who can help win lane do very well. Behind them are the strong mages like Brand and Zyra, but we also see enchanters like Nami, Janna, Soraka, and Sona are all performing fairly well.

Even though he’s most highly ranked, Thresh is the support champion with the most disagreement as to ranking. In most rankings, he is put towards the top tier, but there may be some concerns over his high skill ceiling. The most stable champions in the S/A tiers are actually the simple enchanters: Janna and Soraka. They’re both also considered strong in low elo, and should likely be great champions for climbing in the support role.

Support may be the least desired role in League of Legends, but the analysis actually shows that it may be the strongest role. The median tier ranking for support role is higher than any other role, with the second-highest rated role being mid. In addition, outside of Thresh no other champion has a high spread in terms of ranking, meaning there is a fairly high amount of agreement in terms of which supports are strong.
