These were the dark times when the samurai sat mighty upon his throne and ruled with an iron fist.

EU LCS 2018’s Spring Split began and during weeks 1-3 G2 had some rough games which they eventually overcame along with their growing pains and surged through the regular season along with the playoffs. Destined for greatness they met Fnatic – with their stars ADC Martin “Rekkles” Larsson & mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther – in the finals, and like all heroes in their darkest hour, Fnatic rose up to take on their villain and vanquished them in a stunning 3:0 victory.

G2 limped away, fighting their way through 2018’s Rift Rivals event and despite their 0:3 record vs Team Liquid, 100 Thieves and Echo Fox, EU managed to secure the victory over their American counterparts. After these stinging defeats, G2 regrouped for the next split. But summer wasn’t kinder by any stretch of the imagination.

Finding themselves in 4th place during the EU LCS 2018 Summer Split, things were going from bad to worse. G2 found themselves defeated by lesser teams like Giants Gaming and ROCCAT and had to tooth and nail to make their way to the playoffs.

They managed to make it into the playoffs, seeded below Fnatic, Vitality, and Misfits. It was Misfits that ultimately defeated them and relegated Perkz & co. to fighting their way through the gauntlet to earn a trip to Worlds.

But then something beautiful happened. Hjarnan and Jankos really began to pull their weight and the team looked rejuvenated. For the first time all year, they looked like a world class squad.
