Grading TSM’s rebooted roster
By Josh Tyler
Conclusion
Did TSM get better? It’s honestly hard to say.
There is a lot of talent on this team in the mid and bot lanes, but top is largely unproven. Broken Blade could end up being an improvement over Hauntzer, but to have that expectation is optimistic at best.
As for the jungle, Grig needs to show vast improvement over his performance in 2018, or TSM fans will be questioning why the team didn’t more aggressively pursue a proven jungler like Meteos or Dardoch.
His performance will also put a large strain on the rookie, Broken Blade, as TSM using an import slot top was probably a big reason why TSM didn’t have the freedom to import a jungler and stuck with Grig. If the two are struggling, or even if one is playing decently while the other struggles, fans will be questioning if TSM was right to go with BrokenBlade/Grig as opposed to keeping Hauntzer and looking to import a jungler (possibly bringing back Svenskeren to re-energize the team’s previous synergy).
Ultimately, this is a roster with more questions than answers. Will the new duo bot mesh well? Is Grig going to improve? Will BrokenBlade live up to the hype?
Last season, the TSM team had arguably more proven talent, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their lack of synergy. Baylife fans are hoping that this team will have that synergy, and bring the team back to Worlds.
Do you think TSM’s new roster is an upgrade, downgrade, or side-grade? Which new addition do you think will outperform expectations this year, or do you think some of the returning players will elevate their game?
