Week 1 Games:
vs SinoDragon Gaming (19th of January) (Xi’an)

Team WE have clearly filled their roster. They’ve obtained two players for every position to achieve a ten man roster. The team won’t quite be able to obtain old glory with this lineup but they have some solid players and may be able to contest a lower playoff spot if this squad really starts to gel.

Starting from the top lane, they have kept hold of 957 who has arguably been their best player in recent times. Despite his old heroics, these days he is just an average top player but since he’s reliable and a known quantity it was smart for WE to keep him. His fellow top laner Poss was acquired from Reverse Gaming who was one of the poorer sides in Challengers Korea so I expect 957 will keep his starting spot for now unless Poss has gotten a lot better in the interim.

For jungle, WE have kept Magic who was their primary jungler in Spring but only played twice in Summer. Clearly, WE believe he still has what it takes despite not playing him in their most recent split. Beishang has been taken from Moss Seven Club who was a decent LDL side last split, he’s a rookie so he can go either way when it comes to his play in the LPL.

Asian Games victor Xiye has also been kept ahold of by WE. Much like 957, Xiye seems to have fallen off since his prime but he can still hold his own amongst middle of the pack LPL mid laners. We most recently saw chen9 at the National Electronic Sports Tournament (NEST) where he put on an admirable display for Rogue Warriors, before that brief stint at RW he was a teammate of Beishang on Moss Seven Club which indicates that WE may wish to use beishang and chen9 as a duo that can be swapped in for Magic and Xiye.

Gentle is player that WE have had since mid-2018 and he saw some game time in the Summer split. He didn’t win many of those games however which meant that Mystic played most of WE’s games and I expect that to remain the case going into this split. Mystic is a lot like 957 where his form has waned recently but he was once an ADC that inspired fear in his opponents.

Missing played over half of WE’s games during the Summer split and they felt he did an adequate enough job so they’ve decided to keep him despite letting their other two supports go. Bolstering him will be Sun who also came from Moss Seven Club just like beishang and chen9. He’s an LPL rookie so we’ll just have to wait and see how he performs.

Their week one game is going to be very competitive. SinoDragon have kept the same roster than rampaged through the LDL last season and although a poor Demacia Cup run has hurt their stock, they can still overwhelm WE if they aren’t playing at the top of their game.
