vs Invictus Gaming (16th of January) (Chengdu)

OMG have maintained much of their roster which flopped during the 2018 season and since they’ve only added rookies to this lineup, their prospects in 2019 look dire. The OMG ownership is going through financial turmoil currently so it’s likely they couldn’t invest large amounts in the team for this split.

Xiyang has been OMG’s top laner for three years now and will continue to serve in that role. He is familiar and certainly one of the better players on this team so OMG did well to hold on to him. Ale is a rookie who came from the LDL team SHEINOO. He played instead of Xiyang during NESO where they saw an early exit to SinoDragon despite a strong group stage. He seems like a decent player but I still think OMG will opt to play Xiyang most of the time.

OMG have a trio of junglers this season. l3est16 played during NESO so they may be planning to start him. He came from OnlyGame who play in the LDL North, he has quite a bit of hype around him at the moment which has mostly been generated by his mid laner icon. Mountain played occasionally during the Summer split for OMG as they tried different junglers, he had middling results because he’s a very mediocre player. Their other new jungler Penguin has been called up from their sister team, Oh My Dream. He’s a rookie who may get game time if l3est16 and Mountain aren’t playing well but he may very well get no game time.

icon is definitely the best player on the team and it is very surprising that OMG was able to keep him. As the lone mid laner on this team, he will have to keep playing well and may even need to step up another level if he wants to see his team succeed. To be honest, even if he plays better than Rookie he may not be able to save this team.

Chelly is still on OMG and will be their only ADC going into Spring which doesn’t bode well for the team. He was unimpressive last split and I believe they should have picked up at least a rookie to compete for his spot.

Likewise for Five who was the other half of a mediocre to poor bottom lane last split. He has a young player underneath him though in Xuan who surprisingly used to play for Regicide Gaming in the OPL which means he’s technically not a rookie.

Needless to say, it would take a miracle for OMG to beat Invictus Gaming.
