LCK week two – day three

KT VS. JAG

  • Winner: KT Rolster

In Game 1, KT opted for a late game composition, with Viktor and Jax, while Jin Air drafted for the early game by picking Lucian and Xin Zhao. The game was pretty even until the midgame, with the game progressing relatively slow in terms of objectives, but full of seemingly random skirmishes between the two teams. However, in a snap team fight, KT was able to pull ahead with a 2 for 0, claiming the baron as well. The game ended with Go “Score” Dong-in’s 4-man stun on Jax and an obliterating team fight win from the side of KT.

In Game 2, Jin Air made some interesting choices by substituting in Choi “CheonGo” Hyeon-woo instead of Lee “Grace” Chan-ju in the mid lane and having Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu on Taric in the support role. Despite switching up their game plan and earning the first turret gold, KT eventually snowballed from an early game lead with more kills and two drakes. In another brutal team fight favouring KT, a 4 for 0 with Bdd’s Aatrox wrecking Jin Air, KT got both the baron and infernal drake, securing KT’s second win over Jin Air.

DWG VS. GRF

  • Winner: Griffin

In the most hyped up match of the week – Damwon Gaming vs. Griffin – the early phase of Game 1 was certainly action-packed. The match between the two new generation teams started off with Griffin’s Tarzan on Olaf solo-killing Damwon’s Canyon on Kha’zix for first blood. With his early lead, Tarzan pulled out the first-ever pro-play Olaf “redemption” item build, which proved clutch with its healing in team fights.

Along with Tarzan’s Olaf, Chovy’s 4/0 Akali also dominated throughout the game, picking off members of the Damwon squad and helping Griffin secure the baron in the mid-game. The game stalled out until the second baron, which Damwon claimed, but ended up trading all their lives and handing a clean ace to the side of Griffin, leading to Griffin ending the game at 40 minutes.

Game 2 was also all about Chovy, with his Zoe pick proving to be a good choice when he claimed a double kill off Canyon’s Nocturne and ShowMaker’s Syndra within the first ten minutes of the game. Chovy’s Zoe eventually became unstoppable and his burst Q damage dealing 80% of Nuclear’s Ezreal’s health bar, which was absolutely disgusting to watch.

Game 2 was characterised by small skirmishes rather than large scale team fights and the Damwon squad were constantly picked off with Lehend’s Tahm Kench bringing in their fed Zoe to kill all of them with one Q. Damwon were effectively choked out of their own jungle and with all their squishy champions dying to Zoe’s poke, eventually lost the game. Chovy ended with an impressive 11/0/5 KDA and a KDA score of 84 so far in the LCK.
