This week’s LEC slate features games between two teams fighting for the top slot, and two still looking for their first win. With a new man at the helm of these LEC predictions, will we be proven right or wrong?

The third week’s LEC matches feature a lot of intriguing games, particularly on the first day of play. Only one game – Misfits vs. exceL – appears to be a complete mismatch. Unfortunately for me, such a balanced slate of games will make LEC predictions very difficult, but I shall do my best.

SK Gaming vs. G2 Esports

G2 will enter this match as the heavy favorites, and at 4-0 that is expected, but there is a bit of intrigue. Luka “Perkz” Perković announced on Twitter that he would be replacing Rasmus “Caps” Winther as the team’s starting mid laner, ostensibly moving Caps to the bot lane. This is surprising, though not shocking, as Perkz has struggled a bit in adjusting to playing bot, but it will be interesting to see how this switch affects team synergy.

Their opponents, SK Gaming, are certainly no slouches. They may be sitting at a 2-2 record, but those losses came at the hands of Schalke 04 and Misfits, two of the top teams in the LEC.

If G2’s shaken up roster doesn’t gel they could be a target for an upset. But I have a sneaking suspicion that the Perkz tweet could be a joke, in which case G2 has looked unstoppable and should continue to do so.

Prediction: G2

Rogue vs. Fnatic

This is easily the series I’m most hyped for because it’s the “Fiesta Bowl” of the two worst teams in the LEC. Both teams are 0-2, one will emerge with their first win.

Fnatic is the team that is least likely to lose this game, just from the pure fact that this is still 4/5 of the team that made the World Finals last season. If they cannot beat Rogue, it is time to push the panic button if Fnatic fans hadn’t done so already.

Prediction: Fnatic

Origen vs. Vitality

Our match of the week, we’ve already broken down this game in more detail, so feel free to check it out here. I won’t rehash what was already said, but just give my prediction, which is for OG to take the win. What can I say, I’m hoping the Mithy redemption tour starts today.

Prediction: Origen
