Liquid (3-0) vs. Clutch (2-1)

This would have been slated easily as the premiere match of the week coming in, as everyone expected Clutch to take down OpTic yesterday. Now that their perfect record is blemished, it’s even easier to question if they’ll be able to hang with the powerhouse that is Liquid.

Liquid kept cruising yesterday, taking an easy win over 100 Thieves. The only concern they might have in this game is the matchup in the top lane between Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon and Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong, since Impact has underperformed relative to the team this year. However, Huni has been outclassed by tops like Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik and Niship “Dhokla” Doshi, so even powering through top lane for Clutch might not be a guaranteed win condition.

Prediction: Liquid

TSM (2-1) vs. FlyQuest (2-1)

A very intriguing matchup, as FlyQuest finally dropped their first game yesterday in a shocker against the previously-winless CLG. FlyQuest certainly benefitted from a weak strength of schedule to get their first two wins of the year (beating Golden Guardians and OpTic), so this loss is certainly concerning.

As for TSM, they took down Echo Fox yesterday, despite some uncharacteristic mistakes in the early game by top laner Broken Blade. Despite that, their mid-to-late game shot calling looked clean so I wouldn’t anticipate that they’ll have much trouble against the fairly passive FlyQuest early.

Prediction: TSM

CLG (1-2) vs. Cloud9 (2-1)

CLG is riding high after taking a game off FlyQuest yesterday. They took a gold lead at around the 10-minute mark and never let it go. However, they let the game drag on for almost 49 minutes, missing on a ton of chances to close out the game a lot more swiftly.

Cloud9 will certainly not give the same level of cushioning to CLG if they are indecisive with a lead. In fact, in every game other than their loss to Liquid, C9 has held the gold lead at 15 minutes. It’s also unlikely that top laner Licorice will feed an easy few kills to get PowerofEvil rolling like V1per did yesterday, so CLG will have to continue to improve to take an upset.

Prediction: Cloud9
