Team Liquid vs. TSM

Both of these teams picked up wins yesterday. Team Liquid rolled over the scaling composition of Golden Guardians with ease. Their dominance shows no signs of waning as their fellow NA teams are almost all suffering from a team identity crisis. TSM beat Optic Gaming in one of the poorest macro performances we’ve seen this split from both teams. Fortunately for TSM they had the better team fighting composition and picks that scaled harder so they were eventually able to find catches on Optic’s key carries and overpower them in team fights.

Credit has to be given to TSM for their proactivity as a team but they’re crippled by poor choices after gaining leads. Team Liquid (TL) is also a proactive team but the difference is that TL has the synergy and cohesion to maintain their advantages while TSM does not.

Unlike with other opponents, I expect TSM to fail in a lot of their attempts to earn advantages. Team Liquid will likely take the better macro trades, edge out advantages and use these advantages to win decisive team fights. Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng will haunt his former team once more as he records yet another victory over his former employers. It’s a shame that with two of the biggest fanbases in North America we don’t have a more equal game but that’s just the current state of the league.

Prediction: Team Liquid

FlyQuest vs. Clutch Gaming

Clutch Gaming is firmly the worst team in the LCS right now. Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon is a shadow of his former self, the world finalist looks to have completely given up. Their bottom lane of Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin and Phillipe “Vulcan” Laflamme was predicted to be one of the worst in the league but they gave Clutch fans hope with decent performances in week one, however, the predictions are now being proven true in recent weeks. Tanner “Damonte” Damonte seems to be the only Clutch player capable of making any clutch plays.

FlyQuest is showing that their roster has some muscle. Though they often rely on the “easy route” of picking scaling compositions they have been showing some versatility. Having the confidence to pick Omran “V1per” Shoura his signature Riven pick paid dividends yesterday. They have better players than Clutch in almost every position as well as having better team play.

If Huni and Piglet don’t improve tenfold overnight then I can’t look past FlyQuest in this game. Clutch makes nothing happen all game and what’s worse is that seem to just get outplayed in their lanes rather than losing slowly like other teams in the league. FlyQuest should take this one without much of a struggle.

Prediction: FlyQuest

Cloud 9 vs. Optic Gaming

Speaking of worst teams in the league, if Clutch Gaming didn’t exist then this title would have to belong to this Optic Gaming roster. Niship “Dhokla” Doshi seems to have regressed significantly since last season where he was a very impressive rookie. Lee “Crown” Min-ho wasn’t the star player that Optic needed to save their roster, despite being a former world champion he has forever been plagued with dips in form and confidence issues. He looks like an everyday, middle of the pack middle laner in North America.

Cloud 9 continues to impress this split as they cement their position as the only credible challengers to Team Liquid. They can play through both their bottom lane and their top lane, mid-laner Yasin “Nisqy” Dincer is no slouch either. They have more than enough quality to see off this Optic Gaming side, no matter what style they play. My prediction is easily Cloud 9.

Prediction: Cloud 9

What do you think of our predictions? How do you think these teams will stack up coming into week five?
