League of Legends Patch 9.8 tier list: top lane

Rising Champions:

Fiora (C to B tier)

The buffs to Fiora’s W – Riposte and E – Bladework seem to have done the trick, elevating her into the B tier. I’d expect that if tanks make the massive comeback top lane as many have predicted, her impact will rise even higher.

Renekton (B to A tier)

Those very nice buffs to Renekton’s base stats and Q – Cull the Meek pushed him back to the A tier. He’s very solidly up there right now, just hovering on the borderline between A and B tiers, so I’d think he’s a good bet to stay put in future patches.

Hecarim (A to S tier)

No big adjustments came to Hecarim in the last Patch, but he’s been tearing it up in top lane ever since those buffs in Patch 9.6. Now, though, he’s finally getting the respect for the monster that he is, our third-rated top laner and rated at least A tier by every tier list he was included on.

Wukong (C to B tier)

Wukong is very much one of those “tweener” picks, constantly hovering around the B and C tier border. He’s hopped over the border to the good side in this patch, but he’s still a highly volatile pick whose ceiling is viable, but not meta.

Volibear (D to C tier)

Volibear is another one that hovers the border of two tiers, in this case, D and C. Unlike Wukong, who could at least be considered viable, Volibear is not considered viable by all the lists we audited, bordering on a troll pick.

Malphite (C to B tier)

Malphite, though, is pretty consistently rated in that B tier over the last few patches. I’d say it’s likely that last patch was an aberration and he’ll remain in this spot for a while.

Jayce (B to A tier)

There’s also some pretty wide-spread agreement here for Jayce. Most tier lists we look at have him in the A to B tier, so having him in the low A tier is probably accurate.

Sion (C to B tier)

Sion rose into the B tier but just barely. He is still considered to be below that rank in five of our tier lists, so he’s a prime candidate to fall back to C tier next patch.
