Falling Champions:

Sylas (B to C tier)

Sylas got nerfs to his W – Kingslayer and E – Abscond/Abduct in both patches 9.7 and 9.6. Those effects are finally starting to be felt by the Unshackled. It’s a far cry from our last tier list where at least a few sites had him ranked as a B tier pick; now only one does.

Aatrox (B to C tier)

Thank the gods that Riot has come out and said that they will be looking to make major changes to Aatrox’s kit in Patch 9.9. Opinion is pretty consistent that the Darkin Blade is an unviable pick in his current state.

Dr. Mundo (B to C tier)

It’s fairly odd that Mundo dropped after getting some pretty nice buffs just two patches ago. It seems perhaps the tier lists overestimated the impact of those buffs. Two of the sites don’t even have him in their top lane tier lists and two more have him as a D tier pick.

Kayle (S to A tier)

Two champions fell out of the S tier in this patch, but Kayle is the one closest to jumping back up there. She’s our number one A tier top laner, so don’t think for a moment that she’s not worthy pick or ban in Patch 9.8.

Urgot (S to A tier)

Urgot, on the other hand, actually had more than one site rate him as a B tier pick. While he’s still a very strong A tier pick, I think it’s less likely that he re-enters the S tier next patch as opposed to Kayle.

Garen (A to B tier)

Garen’s like Wukong, another tweener constantly on the precipice of being either A or B tier. His rankings didn’t change that dramatically from Patch 9.7 to 9.8, but he dropped to just below the B tier. This is likely because of the rising of some other top laners in our list more than some loss of confidence in Garen.
