Success and failure

Bombers probably were hoping to get an easy group draw and shock a few teams. As dominant as they were in the OPL, Oceania hasn’t been known for the strongest competition. Even the most optimistic fans wouldn’t be projected to come out of the play-in stage without a lot of luck.

Well, that luck came for them in a big way. Bombers avoided the two hardest teams in the play-in stage by not having to face Vietnam’s Phong Vũ Buffalo and Turkey’s 1907 Fenerbahçe. Yes they’ll have to face DetonatioN FocusMe, a dominant team in Japan’s pro league, and Brazil’s number two team INTZ won’t be an easy out either, but this is a winnable draw for Bombers.

Bombers will (and should) be aiming to get out of group stages to win a date against the Flash Wolves in the knockout round. Making it out of the play-in stage would be a success for them at MSI.

Failure would be to not challenge for that play-in spot. A record below 3-3 would be disappointing for them. We should expect them to win two games minimum, realistically three to five (between play-in, tiebreakers, and possibly some in the knock-out), and a ceiling of six to nine.
