Falling Champions

Riven (S to A+ tier)

Riot finally responded to the terror that was Riven running over the top lane with some nerfs…kinda. Patch 9.10 nerfed her E – Valor‘s cooldown while buffing Q – Broken Wings‘s CD.

Although she fell out of S tier (and her win rate fell by 2.0%) she’s still considered very strong in the A+ tier. Evidenced by the fact that half the sites we audited still rate her as an S tier pick.

Renekton (A+ to A tier)

No direct nerfs caused the drop for the Butcher of the Sands, but instead, it was the nerf of a popular keystone. With the Conqueror nerf in 9.10, no site rated Renekton in the S tier, while two did so just one patch ago.

Vladimir (A to B+ tier)

Vlad didn’t really get touched recently, yet he’s fallen out of the A tier. One thing to note is that Vladimir consistently has one of the biggest spreads of opinion among top laners, as he was rated both as an S tier pick and a D tier pick. This has been the case for the past few patches now, so it’s hard to say with certainty which ranking (high A/S or B/C) is correct.

Kennen (B+ to B tier)

The opinion of Kennen’s standing in the top lane, though, is pretty dead on. Half of the sites rate him as a B tier pick, while the rest hover between A and C tier.

Jayce (B+ to B tier)

Jayce, on the other hand, is closer to the Vladimirs of the world than the Kennens. As many sites have him in the S/A tiers (3) as have him in the C/D tiers. With a 49.6% win rate worldwide, B tier is probably an appropriate landing spot.
