The Execution

Early Game/Laning Phase
The first 10-15 minutes of the game should be very standard with all champions remaining in their usual roles. The goal is to make it out of the laning phase without falling too far behind, which is a difficult task considering the late game focus of the team composition. Ideally the focus of ganks should be towards the bottom lane in order to get Kog ahead, but the jungler’s role should be to protect his laners rather than look for proactive plays early on.

Mid Game/Skirmishes
Towards the 20 minute mark is when this strategy begins to come online as KogMaw has a number of points in his W and the team can start to group up. While the top laner can look to split-push, the other four members of the squad should gather near dragons and the middle lane using KogMaw as a front line, constantly outputting damage upon the enemy team while being protected by a number of shields.

If a teamfight were to break out, the goal is to obviously keep KogMaw alive and prevent heavy crowd control from locking the marksman down. As long as your ADC is able to freely auto attack during a fight, your team should win that fight. It’s vital that the likes of Morgana, Ivern, Lulu, Karma, Zilean, Janna, and Nami, all peel for KogMaw while repeatedly using shields but also ensuring they aren’t blown up by an enemy carry.

Late Game/Teamfights
Shockingly, this late game strategy that utilises a late game AD Carry excels in the late game. A KogMaw with 5 levels in his Bio-Arcane Barrage is unstoppable on his own, so combining him with three supports creates an absolute monster that is near impossible to shut down. Create areas of vision around key objectives like Baron Nashor or inner towers to open up opportunities for Kog to constantly auto attack enemy champions, quickly depleting their health bar to nothing.

This game plan is not a case of strictly teamfighting, or sieging, or poking, but a combination of all three. KogMaw alone should be able to poke the enemy’s tanks out of the fight allowing your team to take down turrets with ease. The one vulnerability of this strategy is KogMaw’s short W cooldown. Opponents will use this as an opening to kick off fights and dive on your marksman, so it’s essential to be wary of potential engages whenever the Bio-Arcane machine gun stops spinning.

Ultimately its not recommended that you take to the Rift with this strategy at every opportunity, and almost never alone in solo queue. However whenever you feel like having some fun in flex queue or are preparing for Clash (Coming Soon™), the Protect the KogMaw strategy is the perfect choice to win games while also annoying the enemy team to no end.
