Falling Champions

Urgot (A+ to A tier)

Urgot dropped in our rankings, but he is still getting some big love from the sources we audited. Three sites still have Urgot as an S tier pick, but they are balanced out by the two sites putting him in their C/D tiers.

Illaoi (A to B tier)

No nerfs to her came in Patch 9.10 or 9.11, but Illaoi’s win rate cratered in this last patch from 51.9% to 48.2%. That’s massive and as a result, several stat-based sites put her in their D tiers. If her win rate improves, though, I’d expect her to become an A tier pick again.

Teemo (B+ to B tier)

Teemo’s win rate hasn’t really moved a significant amount, but the perception of his strength has. Only one site rates him as an A tier top laner, compared to three one patch ago.

Kayle (A to B tier)

Despite maintaining a win rate just over 50% since she got nerfed in 9.8, Kayle has managed to remain in our A tier. Now, though, there are more sites putting her in their C and D tiers than before. Perhaps she can rebound next patch.

Jayce (B to C tier)

Unsurprising that Jayce dropped a tier following the nerfs of Patch 9.11. His win rate, which was previously hovering around 50%, dropped to 47.3% as of the current patch. He is definitely in a far weaker state top lane after the nerfs.

Yasuo (C to D tier)

Breathe a sigh of relief tops, the bad man is gone. Yasuo has one of the worst win rates of all top laners at 48.2%, was left off the tier lists of two sites we used, and his highest rating was B tier by a single site.

Akali (C to D tier)

Like Jayce, Akali caught the nerf bat in 9.11, causing her win rate to drop. She now holds the worst win rate of all top laners at 45.7%.

Vayne (C to F tier)

Top lane Vayne’s time as a viable cheese pick may be coming to an end after those nerfs in Patch 9.10 (even though they were walked back in a mid-patch update). Her win rate is just over 48% and only one site has Vayne rated in their B tier.

Buffed champions

Vayne

As we just discussed, the buffs Vayne got in a mid-patch update were just to offset how hard the nerfs she got in the previous patch hurt her. And it was a bugfix to give her some more speed when she pops her R – Final Hour.

Nerfed champions

Jayce

He may have been too reliable of a pick in pro play for Riot’s liking, but Jayce was always a bit of an afterthought in solo queue. After the nerfs to his Q – Shock Blast, Jayce is very firmly out of the meta and unlikely to be picked in professional play.

Akali

I thought the damage nerf to her Passive – Assassin’s Mark would be big, and her massive drops in top and mid are evidence of that. We’ll see if Riot pulls back on these nerfs in their perpetual quest to make this champion balanced.
