Buffed champions

You know the buffs are effective when they bring a champion into a lane where she hadn’t been seen for eight straight patches and has her rated higher than at any time we’ve previously tracked. Karma mid is stupid strong right now and it won’t be long until more people than the 2% of mids currently playing her are spamming her mid lane.

Nerfed champions

Unquestionably, the nerfs to Sylas’s Q – Chain Lash and E – Abscond/Abduct weren’t outweighed by the healing buffs he got to his W – Kingslayer. Riot has already said they don’t plan to change him for Patch 9.13, but given his play pattern really hasn’t changed that much he’ll continue to struggle.

The Darkin Blade got some tiny nerfs to his Passive – Deathbringer Stance and R – World Ender, but he is just unkillable (both in game and in patch). He actually rose slightly in our tier list from last patch, knocking on becoming an A tier pick in the mid lane.

The nerfs to her E – Flawless Duet hurt her mid lane presence but didn’t drop her down a tier. I’ll be interested to see how much it affects her in top lane, where she’s primarily played.

Corrupting Pot users

The change to Corrupting Pot where it only gives a flat amount of damage amp across the lane seemed like it would hurt those who wanted to use it more for the trading than the sustain. As a result we would expect to see those early-game, lane-bully users (like Fizz or Irelia) get hurt particularly hard. Here are all the champions in mid who primarily take Corrupting Pot as a starting item and how their rating has changed in our tier list from last patch:

  • Aurelion Sol: +0.10
  • Fizz: -0.014
  • Irelia: -0.332
  • Kassadin: -0.179
  • Leblanc: +0.138
  • Pantheon: New entry
  • Sylas: -0.734
  • Twisted Fate: +0.149

So, if we take out the champions that got directly nerfed (Sylas and Irelia), we see that as a net change the Corrupting Pot nerfs didn’t really have a huge effect. It’ll be interesting to see if that holds up in the top lane as well.
