5 SK Gaming (3/3)

With the experience of the Spring Split playoffs on their back, this talented roster look set to push for the top six yet again in Summer. If not for an early game slip-up against Team Vitality, SK would sit joint 3rd and be looking to challenge the top four for a place at Worlds.

Once again they showed their capability both mechanically and through macro against Misfits Gaming as they intelligently took over the map and snowballed their small early gold lead into multiple objectives and eventually a clean win. While 6th place isn’t guaranteed for this roster just yet, they can focus on the teams above them and look to topple some giants on their route to a playoff spot.

4 Origen (3/3)

🦀🦀 The top three have been separated 🦀🦀

League of Legends is a ruthless game and you don’t just lose to Splyce and get away with it. Origen have looked like the weaker of Europe’s top three for quite some time now and have been rewarded for their poor form with a slot at 4th place.

Obviously Origen are still a top team and it would be a shock if they don’t qualify for Worlds at the end of the season, but they were outplayed by Splyce in a clash of the late games in Week 3, and so have to slide below them in the LEC power rankings. There’s no doubt they’ll bounce back from this set-back, especially when facing Excel and Rogue in Week 4, but don’t expect it to be an easy task regaining their 3rd place from Splyce.

3 Splyce (4/2)

For years Splyce lingered on the edge of the top three. For years they’ve had to settle for 4th place as Team Vitality and Misfits Gaming went on to Worlds in their place. No more… For now.

An excellent display against Rogue on Day 1 was topped by an incredible giant-killing of Origen on Day 2 making it the perfect Week 3 for Splyce fans. Despite falling to Schalke 04 in Week 2, Splyce have created a 1 win gap between themselves and the teams below them and also sit only 1 win behind defending LEC and MSI champions G2 Esports.

Splyce have and will always be the late game kings and they’ve continued to prove that in the Summer Split, but it’s a massive two weeks ahead of them if they’re to secure their spot in the top three or perhaps move into the top two. Fnatic in Week 4, followed by G2 Esports in Week 5, represents a huge threat to SPY’s playoff bye contention. After these two weeks, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Splyce dip back into the middle of the pack, but as it stands they’re the best of the rest in the LEC.

2 G2 Esports (5/1)

The kings have been dethroned by their closest rivals, Fnatic, after the biggest game of the season so far provided an upset. It was simply a case of G2 Esports collapsing under the pressure of Fnatic’s impeccable early game prowess, particularly with a flurry of Broxah ganks and Hylissang roams.

Nonetheless, the two still have to face off once more before the LEC Summer Split concludes, and the Week 7 clash could well be a decider of who takes the 1st place seed into the playoffs. There’s no question that the current best team in the world (ish) are favourites to reclaim their LEC trophy in Athens at the end of the season.

1 Fnatic (6/0)

If you thought Fnatic were impressive at the end of the Spring Split, then you’ll be amazed by how well they’re playing right now. This team look simply unstoppable and have combined their early game mastery with their late game teamfight proficiency to create a perfectly rounded roster that will undoubtedly prove a huge threat at the World Championship.

Their win over G2 Esports in Week 3 was in large parts thanks to Broxah’s complete control of the map but was certainly a team effort. Week 4 sees Fnatic take on Team Vitality and Splyce, a fixture list that could mean a 7th and 8th win of the split, as well as clear daylight at the top of the table.

At the moment, it’s between Fnatic and G2 Esports for the Summer Split trophy, but the regular season isn’t even half-way through yet and who knows what will happen between now and August.
