G2 Esports vs. Misfits Gaming

The last time Misfits Gaming appeared at the World Championship was 2016 in which they impressively progressed to the quarter finals.

Nevertheless, since then they’ve failed to reach their former glories. It was expected that the off-season would turn their fortunes around with a super-team that looked to challenge Fnatic and Origen for a top two spot. It wasn’t to be though as MSF failed to click entirely in the Spring Split and have continued that disappointment into Summer.

That being said, impressive showings from Kirei, Hans Sama, and Gorilla provide some encouragement for the joint 7th placed team. At this point they need to build their foundations on a consistent roster then work on their later game shotcalling.

As for G2, their 18-0 dream was shattered by Fnatic in Week 3 in the biggest game of the season so far. While they may be the current LEC and MSI champions, they’re not unstoppable and will have a huge task on their hands if they’re to reclaim first place from an incredible Fnatic team.

When it comes to this match-up, its expected that G2 will come out on top. Misfits’ only hope of a win is to target G2’s ‘weak’ early game and get Hans Sama ahead through early ganks. Even if they achieve that though, its a tall order to beat this G2 team at the moment.

Prediction – G2 Esports Win

Excel Esports vs. Origen

There’s been a wake up call for both of these teams in the first three weeks of the Summer Split. Excel have been reminded just how far behind the rest of the league they are as even Rogue have opened up a gap between themselves and the 10th placed team. And for Origen, they watched as their top three seed got stolen from right under their noses when Splyce out-late gamed them in Week 3.

While both teams might be underachieving in relative terms, we’re still comparing a team looking to pick up their first win since March and a team that wants to reclaim their spot in the top two. Origen merely need to reassess their options in the mid game, while Excel need to reassess everything at the moment.

This should be a comprehensive victory for the LEC Spring runners-up.

Prediction – Origen Win

Team Vitality vs. Fnatic

The last time these two teams met, Fnatic slapped Vitality across a BO5 series in clean 3-0. Today, expect the same result.

Vitality, through Mowgli, turned their abysmal run of form around in Week 3 with two unexpected wins making them one of the most in-form teams in the LEC right now. The question on everyones’ lips is which one was the anomaly? Their Week 3 dominance or their lacklustre opening four games?

No matter what the answer, it would be a massive shock if they manage to hand Fnatic their first loss of the Summer Split on Friday. Not only do Vitality look below par at present, Fnatic look unstoppable. Broxah is 1v9ing games, Hylissang seems to be permanently roaming, and the three carries are providing consistent damage to back up their playmakers. All in all, Fnatic will win today.

But that’s not to say Vitality’s revival isn’t on the cards. Fnatic simply look capable of beating any team at the moment.

Prediction – Fnatic Win
