5. OpTic (6-6)

Last week, OpTic barely edged out TSM despite having the same record. Now, with their 0-2 week, they have tumbled into a massive crevasse below the top four LCS teams.

Of the top five teams in the LCS, OpTic are the only ones with a negative kill-to-death ratio, are the worst-ranked early game team (according to Oracle’s Elixir), and are somehow also considered the worst late game team. Looking at their power rankings all summer, OpTic has only declined from Week 1, a worrying trend they need to rectify.

Remaining Schedule: Echo Fox/TSM, Liquid/Clutch, CLG/Cloud9
Remaining Strength of Schedule: D

4. TSM (7-5)

TSM took care of business on Saturday, taking down Clutch and solidifying their spot in that top four. However, they’re most likely going to be viewing this weekend as a lost opportunity given that they dropped that game on Sunday to Cloud9.

Had TSM beaten C9, they would have not only taken their spot as the second-best record in the LCS at 8-4, but they would have also owned the tiebreaker by going 2-0 against Cloud9 in the Summer Split. Unfortunately, like last week against CLG, TSM dropped the ball, losing ground in the standings as well as losing their outright tiebreaker. At least they did follow my advice and choose to go with Akaadian over Grig as their starting jungler going forward.

Remaining Schedule: Golden Guardians/OpTic, Echo Fox/100 Thieves, FlyQuest/Liquid
Remaining Strength of Schedule: B

3. CLG (7-5)

Maybe the biggest loser of the weekend, though, was CLG. They only dropped one spot in our rankings, but they had every opportunity to unseat Liquid or at least keep pace with Cloud9 in that top seed. Now, they’re quite clearly in a tier below C9/TL and are firmly in the same tier as their other 7-5 brother TSM.

Remaining Schedule: FlyQuest/Cloud9, Clutch/Echo Fox, OpTic/100 Thieves
Remaining Strength of Schedule: A

2. Cloud9 (8-4)

Shockingly, Cloud9 rose in the rankings after Week 6 despite taking an incredibly ridiculous upset to Echo Fox. They rose because luckily they were able to beat TSM on Sunday and CLG was unable to beat anyone. That said, they now have the worst loss quality of any team in the LCS, meaning that they lose more games against teams they should beat than anyone else in the league.

Remaining Schedule: 100 Thieves/CLG, FlyQuest/Liquid, Golden Guardians/OpTic
Remaining Strength of Schedule: C

1. Team Liquid (9-3)

And now at the top, there is only Team Liquid. They took down their closest competition, CLG, last weekend, and now sit miles above the rest of the pack as the best team in the LCS. With their wins this weekend, TL is now the best-rated early game team by Oracle’s Elixir (by a wide margin), are now the third-best mid/late game team, and lead all LCS teams in kill-to-death ratio, gold percent ratio, gold spread, and gold lead at 15.

Remaining Schedule: Clutch/Golden Guardians, OpTic/Cloud9, Echo Fox/TSM
Remaining Strength of Schedule: C
