League of Legends: LCK player power rankings – Week 6
By Josh Tyler
Mid lane
1. Heo “ShowMaker” Su (Sandbox Gaming)
2. Kim “Dove” Jae-yeon (Sandbox Gaming)
3. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok (SK Telecom T1)
4. Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Griffin)
When it comes to evaluating Griffin, I think many have overlooked just how…pedestrian Chovy has looked this split. Right now, Chovy is a barely above-average laner, has an adjusted kill participation of only 89.9%, and the second-lowest adjusted damage per minute (and a raw damage per minute in the bottom five) of all mids. His gold and KDA stats might be good (for instance, in that loss to Afreeca he went a combined 6/5/11) but he’s just not impacting the rest of the team’s performance like he did in the spring.
5. Kang “Tempt” Myung-gu (Hanwha Life Esports)
6. Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon (Afreeca Freecs)
7. Kim “Gori” Tae-woo (SK Telecom T1)
8. Yoo “Naehyun” Nae-hyun (Kingzone DragonX)
9. Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong (KT Rolster)
10. Kim “Lava” Tae-hoon (Hanwha Life Esports)
11. Lee “Kuzan” Seong-hyeok (Gen.G)
12. Choi “CheonGo” Hyeon-woo (Jin Air Green Wings)
13. Song “Fly” Yong-jun (Gen.G)
Gen.G has certainly turned their season around ever since they subbed in Fly for Kuzan in the mid lane, with the team winning eight out of nine games in which Fly has started. Fly has one of the best adjusted KDAs (3.45) but also has one of the lowest adjusted kill participation (86.2%), of all mid laners in the LCK.
In addition, his laning numbers are atrocious with him averaging a 233 gold, 126 experience and 8.1 CS deficit at 10 minutes. He’s also in the bottom three of mid laners when it comes to adjusted damage and gold outputs, so it’s quite clear that Fly himself hasn’t been driving Gen.G to play better. Instead, Gen.G has been able to drive Fly’s high KDA stats while carrying around him, which they were unable to do with the slightly better Kuzan in.
14. Lee “Grace” Chan-ju (Jin Air Green Wings)
