League of Legends: Who will succeed TSM Bjergsen?
By Shay Coleman
Faker
Yes, you read that correctly, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. The best League of Legends player to ever grace the earth. While it is crazy to think that the greatest player in the world would leave his beloved SK Telecom T1, with whom he has won three World Championships, let’s just consider the possibility.
TSM could have an opening in the mid lane come the end of Summer Split. Faker’s contract will expire around the same time as Bjergsen’s, could both mid laners consider their options elsewhere? Maybe Faker thinks he could lead a North American team to a World title. Perhaps Faker just wants a really big pay-out in North America as some players have yearned for in the past.
The possibility of Faker joining TSM for the 2020 LCS season is very slim at best. Even if he did come to North America, Team Liquid owner Steve “LiQuiD112” Arhancet has gone on record saying he inquires about the availability of Faker every off-season, so if Faker wanted the big pay-out, he would go there. However, if TSM wanted to splash the big dollars, and I mean the biggest esports contract in history, maybe Faker could be enticed?
Reginald
As Marc Merrill once famously said, “Love me some Regi”. The most unlikely candidate to take over from Bjergsen is the man that Bjergsen took over from. Andy “Reginald” Dinh hasn’t played professional League of Legends since he stepped down from TSM in 2014 That being said, Regi has been known to step-in to coach the team when things were looking rough for them, and always had a very hands-on approach to helping the team.
While it is the least likely of outcomes, it would be very nostalgic for Team SoloMid fans and all League of Legends esports fans alike to see Reginald back in the mid lane playing as aggressive as ever with his cocky attitude on stage. He IS TSM. When times get tough, TSM fans know that Reginald will get involved to fix the mess.
Maybe Reginald will get the most involved than he ever has before? Maybe Regi is the right man to shot-call TSM to glory. Maybe that is an awful idea and he should stick to the management team. Whatever the case may be, we can be sure that the outcome will be as “Bay Life” as ever.
