Schalke 04 vs. Splyce

Day one results:
Schalke 04 1 – 0 SK Gaming
Splyce 1 – 0 Team Vitality

Splyce and Schalke has all the makings of an excellent tactical battle. While it may not be the most exciting match-up, watching these two methodical teams battle it out for the third place spot will be very interesting.

Both sides are slow and intelligent in the early game, creating small advantages through map movements and plays around small objectives. They then use their small gold lead to either snowball through teamfighting, in Schalke’s case, or set up major objectives in a way that denies their opponents any chance of contesting, for Splyce.

All in all, both of these teams are worthy playoff competitors and should lock in 3rd and 4th very soon. As for today’s match-up however, it could go either way, but with Splyce’s incredible form in the Summer Split, you’d have to point towards them to pick up the victory. Teamfight versus teamfight, I think Splyce have the edge.

Prediction: Splyce Win

SK Gaming vs. G2 Esports

Day one results:
SK Gaming 0 – 1 Schalke 04
G2 Esports 1 – 0 Origen

G2 are starting to make one fifth of these predictions boring every week to be honest.

Origen vs. Fnatic

The LEC Match of the Week is a Spring Split semi-final rematch, but the roles have been reversed since the huge game in Rotterdam. Now Fnatic are the vastly superior team, mostly due to Origen’s poor start to summer, looking like they’ve completely forgotten what made them so good in the Spring Split.

There’s no doubt that Fnatic and Origen are two of the best teams in the LEC at the moment, and it’s just about when Origen can recapture their past form. It would come as no surprise if OG went on to win four or five of their final six games of the season to convincingly secure their place in the top four. But as for right now, a match against Fnatic seems almost too soon for the Origen line-up.

Origen seem to fall early on as they’re never set up to deal with the likes of Inspired, Trick, Jankos, and most importantly Broxah in the early game. In order for the Spring Split runners-up to find a victory today, Kold and Mithy will somehow need to find a way to stop Broxah and Hylissang’s brilliant rotations around the map, but it will be extremely difficult.

Despite Fnatic’s failings against Misfits, we can chalk that one down as an upset and in no way indicative of Fnatic’s true power in the LEC right now. With the pressure of Splyce and Schalke piling up behind them, Fnatic need victories and can’t afford to slip up if they want to secure the 2nd seed going into playoffs. We will not see the same mistakes they made against Misfits in their vital match-up today.

Prediction: Fnatic Win
