There’s a new king atop the LCK power rankings! Which League of Legends team finally dethroned Griffin?

For almost the entire Summer Split, and just about all the Spring Split, Griffin was the best team in the LCK. Heck, they were probably the best League of Legends team in the world, their unfortunate loss in the finals notwithstanding. They closed games out with ruthless efficiency, dominating the early game and snowballing themselves to very easy victories.

For six weeks Griffin was the cream of the LCK crop. Even as they began slumping of late, even as they were losing and falling down the standings, they were the best statistical League of Legends team in Korea. In the seventh week, after yet another lackluster performance, they are no longer at the top of our power rankings. The question, then, is who has replaced them.

10. Jin Air Green Wings (2-28)

There is honestly not much to say about this team that hasn’t already been said. They haven’t won a single series and have only won 2 out of 30 games. For you math majors out there, that means they’ve won 7% of their games in the Summer Split.

They’re currently riding a 14-game losing streak. They’re a historically bad mid/late game team according to Oracle’s Elixir. This team will be playing for their LCK lives in the promotion series soon.

9. KT Rolster (9-22)

Another 0-4 week for KT, losing their games to Griffin and Gen.G. They’re all but out of the playoffs at this point and are going to be in a dog fight with Hanwha Life for the safety to regroup and try again next spring.

8. Hanwha Life Esports (10-20)

Congratulations Hanwha Life, you managed to win your only series of the week. Of course, it came against the zombified corpse of a team in Jin Air, so I feel nothing. They’ll face off with KT on Friday for the “honor” of being in the lead in the “chase to not get relegated.”

7. Kingzone DragonX (20-15)

I remember a time, earlier in the split, when Kingzone was a top three LCK team along with Griffin and Sandbox. All of those teams have fallen off since their hot starts, but none cooled down more than Kingzone. They’re now in the pack of teams (SKT, Kingzone, Afreeca, and Griffin) clamoring for the final spot in the playoff Gauntlet.

6. Afreeca Freecs (19-14)

Overall, Afreeca improved on their position from last week by beating Kingzone 2-1 in their series. This team has assured a spot in the Spring Split but is still very much in the fight for the final spot in the Gauntlet. Unfortunately for them, they’ll face Damwon and SKT in the coming week, which is nothing short of a monstrous task.
