Top Lane

Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong vs Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon

Both former SKT top-laners and LCS veterans, the matchup between Huni and Impact last split would have been a one-sided affair to the latter, but things have changed.

A lot of this top-lane will come down to match-ups and versatility of the players’ champion pool. Huni plays Rumble. It’s just what he does, and he does it a heck of a lot. By far one of his all-time most played champions, he’s been loving playing Rumble recently, and it has opened up the opportunity for his mid-lane teammate Damonte to play AD champions like Irelia and Qiyana.

However, Rumble isn’t the only form Huni can take in order to win. He had a stand-out performance on yet another AP top-laner in Akali with a 6/0/3 KDA opposite FLY V1per and another Akali win against 100 Thieves. Huni has shown incredible flexibility over the years, with a willingness to play the likes of Cassiopeia and Lucian top-lane, amongst other picks to lead his team to victory.

Huni will have to conquer the toughest task that the LCS can provide in the top-lane on Sunday, Liquid Impact.

Impact needs to prove why he won a World Championship and why Huni fell short at the last hurdle. Impact has been at the top of the pecking order since Season 3 when he sat alongside Bengi and Faker when they hoisted the World Championship trophy. He has been in NA for a long time and is widely considered the best top-laner in the region.

Impact had finally gotten his hands on an LCS championship, and then another, and then another. Now he lies in another semi-final against fellow LCS veteran Huni. Impact tops the charts in almost every stat you could possibly check. Highest top lane KDA amongst others.

While Impact interacts immensely with his team, I could see this laning phase going either way. However, due to pure consistency over the past 2-3 years, it’s time to give Impact the credit he deserves as he serves under the spotlight of Jensen and Doublelift.

Advantage: Team Liquid.
