Observations

Normally, we would leave buffed and nerfed champions to their own section, but since only one jungler got a change in Patch 9.17 itself, we’ll discuss the buffs to Pantheon here. Obviously, the changes were a positive follow-up for Pantheon jungle, dragging him out of the F tier, but he is still definitely struggling in the D tier. Taking away the reduced damage against jungle monsters on his E – Aegis Assault was obviously huge, but a lot of people are also sleeping on the execute damage increase to his Q – Comet Spear.

Three of the rising junglers – Ekko, Jax, and Nocturne – are still benefitting from buffs that they got back in Patch 9.16. A few other champions are in the “rising” category only because they’ve moved to the other side of the border between tiers – Rammus, Fiddlesticks, and Sylas mainly.

After those few easily-explained risers, however, there is a very distinct pattern of the champions that are improving in Patch 9.17: Assassins. The champs with the biggest improvements were Rengar, Ekko, and Evelynn. Obviously, Ekko got recent buffs himself, but Rengar and Eve got massive improvements after Patch 9.17 without direct buffs or nerfs.

The best jungler, right now, is Kha’Zix and, although Divers tend to make up most of the A and above tiers, Assassins are now the second-most common class in those tiers (with Eve joining Kha’Zix). Two of the top ten and four of the top twenty junglers are Assassins.
