League of Legends Patch 9.18 Teamfight Tactics tier list – TFT gets Wild
By Josh Tyler
Based on this tier list, we have also taken the average ranking of each champion within every Class and Origin in Teamfight Tactics, which will give our aggregated ranking so you know which synergies are best. One thing to note is that these rankings are purely based on the average champion strength within that group, not the strength of the buff the synergy provides. We are assuming for purposes of this tier list that champions are ranked based on not only cost and statistics, but whether they can be part of a powerful synergy.

Best compositions
In accordance with our rankings, we’ll now be introducing a new list of recommended team compositions based on our Class and Origin rankings, along with the units you should buy in each one, as well as the best iterations to pair those comps with. We will put an asterisk next to the units that should be the main focus of these comps, to get to 2 or 3-stars and put items on. Note that when we recommend specific units of a Class/Origin but omit others for your pairings, we are saying these are the options we would consider to be above average or worthwhile additions to your comp.
- Wild – Warwick, Ahri, Rengar (*), Gnar (*)
- Pair with Shapeshifters by adding Jayce, Shyvana, or Swain (Swain + Jayce + Gnar).
- You can also swap Warwick for Nidalee, enabling you to go another comp like Dragons or Exiles along with your Wild/Shapeshifter comp.
- Pair with Assassins by adding two of Pyke and Akali (Rengar + Akali + Pyke)
- Pair with Rangers by adding the four Wild champions above and any two rangers (preferably Ashe + Kindred)
- Pair with Shapeshifters by adding Jayce, Shyvana, or Swain (Swain + Jayce + Gnar).
- Yordles – Kennen (*), Lulu, Gnar (*) (add Tristana, Veigar, Poppy for full Yordles if desired)
- Pair with Elementalists by adding Brand and Anivia (Kennen + Brand + Anivia)
- Pair with Shapeshifters by adding Shyvana and Swain (Gnar + Shyvana + Swain)
- Pair with Sorcerers by adding Ahri and Aurelion Sol (Lulu + Aurelion Sol + Ahri)
- Yordles + Sorcerers + Dragons possible (example, Kennen, Lulu, Gnar, Shyvana/Pantheon, Aurelion Sol, Ahri)
- Glacial – Sejuani (*), Anivia (*), Ashe (*), Volbear/Braum
- Pair with Knights by adding Garen/Kayle (Sejuani + Garen/Kayle)
- Pair with Rangers by adding Kindred (Ashe + Kindred)
- Pair with Elementalists by adding Kennen and Brand (Anivia + Kennen + Brand)
- Imperials – Darius, Katarina, Draven (*), Swain (*)
- Pair with Knights by adding Garen/Sejuani/Kayle (Darius + Garen/Sejuani/Kayle)
- Pair with Elementalists by adding Kennen/Brand (Swain + Kennen + Brand)
- Pair with Blademaster by adding Yasuo/any other Blademaster (Draven + Yasuo + any other Blademaster)
Concluding notes
While there’s not much more these aggregations can tell us with certainty with regards to comps or items, here is what our data can tell you about what to look for within your next Teamfight Tactics game.
- Knights may have gotten nerfed, but they’re still probably your best option for a front line. Unfortunately, the four best Knights – Kayle, Garen, Darius, and Sejuani – don’t have the best synergies. The only Knight that actually has a decent synergy is Poppy, but she is particularly weak as a unit.
- Wild is the strongest “base” Origin that you can build around. It has a really good mix of front line (Warwick and Gnar) and damage (Ahri and Rengar) and you can build a seven-unit comp with multiple powerful synergies like Sorcerers, Shapeshifters, Yordles, and Assassins.
- In addition, Wild + Ranger synergy is ridiculously good considering that with four Wild your auto attackers won’t miss their basic attacks.
- People are sleeping on Elementalists, but the core of Kennen + Brand + Anivia is ridiculously strong. They also have great synergies like Yordles and Glacial, which I would recommend going for if you can’t get the Wild units early.
