Buffed champions

Kayle

Her base damage on E – Starfire Spellblade‘s passive got a 5 AD buff across the board, but this certainly helped the Righteous climb into the B+ tier all the way from the D tier. Not only did her ranking jump significantly, her win rate went from 50.5% to 52.2% in this patch, along with an increase in her pick rate top lane. She definitely seems to be in a better spot after these buffs.

Teemo

These were kind of buffs (infinite bounces, more charges late, and Rift Scuttler no longer clearing his R – Noxious Trap) kind of quality of life changes (the indicator on his Q – Blinding Dart and active duration indicator on his W – Move Quick), but overall Teemo seemed to benefit from the changes. He rose into the B+ tier and got a healthy 0.6% win rate increase in Patch 9.18.

Nerfed champions

Aatrox

We talked about how hard the nerfs hurt Aatrox mid, but the nerfs to his Passive – Deathbringer Stance and Q – Darkin Blade were massive for his top lane presence.  Although his ranking only dropped to B tier, Aatrox’s top lane win rate went from 51.2% down to 45.4%, meaning he took almost a 6% decrease in one patch. Do not be surprised if Aatrox slips into the C or D tier next patch unless these nerfs get corrected.

Akali

Similarly, Akali got a win rate drop in Patch 9.18, going from 49.4% to now 46.3%. It’s not as bad as Aatrox’s, but it still hurt enough to bring Akali from the B to the C tier. Those nerfs to her R – Perfect Execution did execute her as a champ, perfectly.
