How they got here
Although RNG bowed out of the LPL Spring Playoffs during the quarterfinal round to JD Gaming, they made up for it with their performance in the summer. RNG finished third in the regular-season standings with a 12-3 record (25-10 in games).
In the playoffs, RNG pulled a shocking upset in the semifinals, taking down LPL darlings TOP Esports in a 3-1 victory. Unfortunately, they ultimately fell in the finals to the LPL champions FunPlus Phoenix, but they managed to qualify based largely on that second-place finish in the summer
Player to watch
ADC Uzi, who is the epitome of a resource-heavy carry who also justifies the investment his team places in him. Uzi had the third-best KDA among all LPL players who played more than five games.
Best case scenario
RNG is another “boom-or-bust” team. I don’t think they’re good enough to win the whole tournament, but they could very easily clutch out a run and make it to finals.
Worst case scenario
On the “bust” side, RNG could be another of those teams to flame out in groups, despite having a ton of talent.
Prediction
Somewhere in the middle of those two positions, I think RNG will struggle in groups, get a hard draw in the first round of knockouts, and lose in the quarterfinals
