Path to the League of Legends World Championship
Royal Youth finished the 2019 Winter split strong, finishing as the third seed from the regular season entering the playoffs. Unfortunately, they fell to Supermassive in the semi-finals of the playoffs, needing to rebound in the summer.
Rebound they did, finishing with the best record in the TCL during the summer. They even managed to get some revenge on Supermassive, taking them down in five games.
Player to watch
ADC Pilot, who should be a familiar name to watchers of Korea’s LCK action. After two years with Jin Air and another with MVP, Pilot moved on to dominate the TCL’s bot laners. He finished the 2019 season with a 6.65 KDA, leading his team, and leading the league’s ADCs in gold per minute.
Best case scenario
They follow the path of fellow TCL representatives from this year, 1907 Fenerbahçe, and shock some people to end up at the top of their group, get an easy draw from the two seeds in the knockout stage, and make the main event group stage. They probably don’t end up winning more than 2 or 3 games in groups, but that would be a heck of a run.
Worst case scenario
They go 0-4 in the play-ins as Pilot returns to the form that made Jin Air fans hate him.
Prediction
They’re good for two wins in the play-in groups, lose in knockouts, and don’t live up to 1907 Fenerbahçe.
