Path to the League of Legends World Championship

Of all the LMS teams to represent the region internationally, Hong Kong Attitude (HKA) is perhaps the most overlooked. Returning to the World Championship for the first time since 2017, when they made it out of the play-in group stage before getting swept in the knockouts by Fnatic.

During the 2019 Season, though, HKA has had middling success. They failed to make the playoffs in spring after finishing 7-7. While they did make it to playoffs in summer, their record didn’t reflect any significant improvement at 6-6.

They managed to take down Team MAD in the first round but then bowed out to Hong Kong Attitude in the second round of the playoffs. This gave them the first seed heading into the LMS Regional Qualifier where they first took down perennial LMS powerhouse Flash Wolves in three games. In the final game of the qualifier, they managed to take down another of last years’ LMS Worlds representatives in G-Rex, sweeping them 3-0.

Player to watch

With all the changes to HKA’s roster this year, there was only one constant in their line-up. That would be support Kaiwing, who was one of the strongest supports in the region that is admittedly quite weak at the position.

Best case scenario

As a second seed, they should have a very easy road to make the play-in knockout round. But as far as beating out most of the other teams in a best-of-three…that’s quite unlikely.

Worst case scenario

They get a hard group draw and can’t even make it out of the group stage.

Prediction

They’ll make it out of groups and get swept in the knockout stage.
