League of Legends Teamfight Tactics Patch 9.19 tier list – Kai’Sa begins her hunt
By Josh Tyler
Tier 1 champions (previous rank)
- Garen (1)
- Darius (3)
- Nidalee (7)
- Kassadin (4)
- Kha’Zix (5)
- Vayne (8)
- Warwick (6)
- Tristana (2)
- Mordekaiser (9)
- Fiora (11)
- Graves (12)
- Camille (10)
- Elise (13)
Observations:
The only significant movement in this tier list is Tristana and Nidalee essentially swapping places in our tier list. This is in spite of the fact that Trist got buffed in Patch 9.19, but I’m guessing it’s because more and more sites are coming around to just how strong the Wild buff is.
Tier 2 champions (previous rank)
- Blitzcrank (5)
- Varus (6)
- Lucian (1)
- Zed (9)
- Ahri (4)
- Lulu (2)
- Twisted Fate (8)
- Pyke (3)
- Jayce (7)
- Braum (10)
- Rek’Sai (11)
- Shen (12)
- Lissandra (13)
Observations:
The bottom four of this ranking is the exact same from the last patch, indicating just how weak these four units are perceived to be in Teamfight Tactics. Beyond that, there are actually a lot of big shifts.
For instance, obviously Blitzcrank jumped up massively after the buffs he got, but Varus and Zed also rose from 9.19. Meanwhile, formerly powerful Tier 2 units like Lucian, Lulu, and especially Pyke, all fell further down the ladder.
Tier 3 champions (previous rank)
- Shyvana (7)
- Ashe (1)
- Kennen (2)
- Katarina (10)
- Evelynn (5)
- Vi (4)
- Volibear (8)
- Rengar (3)
- Morgana (6)
- Poppy (13)
- Aatrox (12)
- Veigar (11)
- Gangplank (9)
Observations:
Just about every Tier 3 champion got some form of an adjustment in Patch 9.19. Some adjustments landed (Katarina’s buff, Vi’s buff) while some were not effective at all (Shyvana rose despite her nerf, Ashe is still a strong unit despite the nerf, and Veigar dropped despite the buff).
Tier 4 champions (previous rank)
- Gnar (2)
- Draven (4)
- Sejuani (6)
- Brand (1)
- Cho’Gath (8)
- Aurelion Sol (3)
- Kindred (7)
- Jinx (5)
- Leona (10)
- Akali (9)
Observations:
That Wild trait is so strong after the 9.18 buffs that Gnar rose to the top spot among Tier 4 units despite receiving direct nerfs. And, although Glacial and Sejuani both got nerfed, she still rose three spots from the last patch, right behind Draven. It’s definitely looking like those same strong comps from 9.18 like Wild, Glacials, and Imperials, are all going to be doing well in 9.19.
Tier 5 champions (previous rank)
- Yasuo (3)
- Swain (4)
- Anivia (5)
- Kayle (2)
- Pantheon (1)
- Karthus (7)
- Kai’Sa (NR)
- Miss Fortune (6)
Observations:
So Kai’Sa has joined the Tier 5 as one of the weaker units in the class, but that could also just be due to unfamiliarity with how she fits in to different compositions. However, someone who remains un-fittable in TFT comps is Miss Fortune, who is the worst unit in Teamfight Tactics despite 9.19 giving her a nice little buff. On the other hand, the buffs to Anivia and Yasuo were definitely enough to help them out, while the nerf to Swain couldn’t keep him down. Like I said, Imperials are strong.
